History: The Association operated under the York North Law Association until 1981 when the name changed to the York Region Law Association.

Facility: The library is located on the third floor of the Newmarket Courthouse. There is seating space for 16 lawyers. The lawyer's lounge and robing rooms are located directly across from the library. 85 lockers are available for members and visiting lawyers. 24 hour access is available to members with a YRLA photo ID.
