LibraryCo is the brain child of the Working Group that from 1997 through 2000 studied the organization and services of the County and District law libraries in Ontario. The goal was to provide a better law library system for the lawyers of Ontario.
From the three-phased report “Beyond 2000: the Future Delivery of County Library Services to Ontario Lawyers” LibraryCo was born.
The LibraryCo system is made up of 48 County and District Law Libraries spanning the province of Ontario. There are five Regional or large law libraries, sixteen Area Libraries or medium-sized law libraries and twenty-seven Local or small libraries.
Most libraries are staffed on a part time basis. Only sixteen are staffed on a full time basis. The staff report to the County Law Association who are the employers. Details of hours of operation, contact information and services can be found at the About Law Libraries - Law Library Profiles page.
