Some good "starter" websites for legal research.

Here you will find current, consolidated Statutes and Regulations. The acts and regulations are usually updated within two days of a change in the law.
Ontario Bills
http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/go2.jsp?Page=/bills/bills_main&menuItem=bills_header&locale=en
If you need to consult the text of a bill before it becomes law, or want to see the unconsolidated version of a particular piece of legislation, this is the place to look. You can go as far back as the 1st session of the 36th legislature, which began Sept. 1995.
Ontario Gazette
http://www.ontariogazette.gov.on.ca
Here you can view the issues of the Ontario Gazette exactly as they appear in print. The archive goes back to the beginning of January 2000. Use it to obtain the text of a regulation in its unconsolidated form, or to check for a notice that appeared in the Gazette.
Federal Statutes Regulations
http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/index.html
This site comes to you from the Department of Justice and it has the full text of both Statutes and Regulations. You can search by the name of the Act, or do a word search. Just be careful to note the currency when you find the Act you want. The site is sometimes up to 3 months out of date.
Federal Bills
http://www.parl.gc.ca/common/bills.asp?language+EParl=37Ses-1
The Parliamentary website has the full text of bills from both the Senate and the House as well as links to Hansard. The bills are available as far back as the 1st session of the 35th Parliament )January 1994). Bills are generally available within a couple of days of being introduced in Parliament.
Canada Gazette
http://canadagazette.gc.ca
Use this site to find Regulations (in Part 2 of the Gazette), Notices (Part 1) and recently-passed legislation (Part 3). Its appearance is exactly like the print version.
Ontario Case Law
http://www.ontariocourts.on.ca/coa/en/
Cases from the Ontario Court of Appeal are available on this site since 1998. You can locate cases by name or you can do a simple search. Also on this site are Practice Directions and miscellaneous information from all the Ontario Courts.
Supreme Court of Canada Cases
http://www.lexum.umontreal.ca/csc-scc/en/index.html
The University of Montreal maintains a database of Supreme Court of Canada cases. It includes judgements since 1967; all decisions originating in Ontario since 1876 and many of the most cited decisions prior to 1967. Decisions can be searched by case name, docket #, citation, parties, judges or key words.
