Also of interest is an original 10 volume collection of Statutes Connected with the General Administration of the Law dated 1836.

History:

The original Declaration of Incorporation dated December 31, 1894 is held in the Law Society of Upper Canada archives. Also in the archives is the first membership list (dated December 31, 1887) which consists of 38 lawyers, registrars and police magistrates. The librarian was an appointed or volunteered trustee who assumed the position part time for $100/yr. The first official librarian was hired in 1935 and remained until 1972. Ms. Malvern is only the fourth library staff member in the 110 year history of the library. In 2008 Wanda Haayen joined the staff as a full time Library Technician.
